Hello Ines! I’m a fan of you:)
I heard a disappointing news that you resigned IBG. Is it true? If it’s true, you won’t produce a new MUJ?

Yes this is true dear YUNA.…. except that I did not resigned IBG but I sold it 2 years ago. Do not worry because I have other projects for 2011, and VERY exciting ones. Stay tuned!
Happy holidays and an amazing new year darling.

Dear Ines,

I asked you to teach me the way to stand elegant (at the Hotel Metropolitan, at the Beauty Night, in Ikebukuro).

I was so impressed!! Because I never imagined that you would actually, one day, teach me face to face.

Let me tell you a little about me.
I met your book at first …2years ago.

In the book you told us so many new facts.
and also those made me realized what you said in the book was completely the same that my mother had told me until now.

‘too much…’ I wasn’t listening to her advices when I was teenage.
Because I was too young and I thought she was somehow particular in her beauty sense.
Your book told me how important to spend one own time on purpose.

Actually my work was totally hard and then I was tired to be with my boyfriend even seen him only on weekend.
a few month later, he said goodbye to.

And half a year later, I could meet a wonderful guy.
who was the best I ever known !!
I guess I would never have met that kind of guy if I had not changed my way of thinking at that time.
Now I’m really enjoying to be with him and my work is going very well.

I’m out of Japan with him someday.
I’m wanna be the beautiful woman who makes everything true.
Doesn’t matter where I am, when it is.

I always remind your advices.
You changed my life, thank you!

Love Chiaki,

Dear Chiaki,

This is the sweetest message and news of love and happiness!
Thank you for telling me your story, and remember this is only the beginning….. you are going to discover so wonderful experiences in your new life. And remember always stay positive and look straight into your future. Enjoy the present but look always toward the life in front of you.

Love to you and your family for the holidays.

Dear ines,

i love fashion when i was young so much.. the way i look, my style, my opinions about things and ideas about myself.

and it makes me more positive. I think this is such a good pleasure to have chance to speak with you.

first, i am one of your big fan and i love your style of thinking and attitude. Of course, everything.

I used to know you about past 2 years and I saw on the television about MISS UNIVERSE documentary. I thought that you are harsh at first, but, I felt that your very kind of special, like they say: “INES MAGIC”.

i just want to ask that: I always try to start dieting but I always screwed. Help me please..

love lots, take care for you and your family

Jhullie

Dear Jhullie,

Perfect question! You wrote to me:
“I always try to start dieting but I always screwed. Help me please..”

Well, the good news is that within “Ines Secret” the series of 8 DVDs and 9 manuals that I produced, there is everything you need in order to loose weight healthily and for good, and to discover a new you.

Ines,

Do these DVDs have English subtitles? I REALLY want to purchase them, but I do not speak Japanese. I also wish you could come to Korea and do a special seminar for Korean women. To me, you are like the Oprah Winfrey of the beauty/fashion industry. You help women empower themselves, and I really admire you for that.

Dear Gem,

No,,,, unfortunately they do not have English subtitles. We recorded for over a 3 months period, in both languages, Japanese & English, but for now they will only be sold in Japanese.

Good news though is that they will be sold soon after in Korea, (in Korean language)!!! and then be launched in China in Mandarin.

You gonna love my DVDs series, nothing has been done like it before…. I put all my heart and love for women of any age into the series. It looks like a reality TV show.

Much love, happy 2011!

jyugyo” You and Erykah looked stunning & gorgeous!!
Teppei Arita was hilarious.. he kept talking about playing the guitar.. haha loved the show.
Oh, and I loved the way you laugh!! very cute and charming
I hope to see you more on Japanese TV shows! Can’t wait until the DVDs come out… love, Mai

Dear Mai,

It was really so much fun shooting the show, and Erica is my sweet friend.

It was a good experience, but I was a bit uncomfortable telling super-mega-celebrities what they do wrong… I thought I would have their agent coming after me… *) also I was not 100% myself during the second part of the show, when I was teaching walking-exercising.

And YES Tappei is indeed hilarious!

I have a question, why did you decide to come to asia? its so different from France or spain? Maybe there was a job offer, but did you like asia since you were young? what is attractive for you in asia?

Love ines and this blog post about China is a huge A+!! Nice photos funny stories, unique and very Inessy. Love it!

Dear Kodinza,

I decided to come to Asia, because when I was a teenager, I often saw documentaries about Japan, Hong Kong and Vietnam and the culture of Asian countries have always intrigued me . It was fascinating to me seeing teenagers on the other side of the world and comparing their education style versus mine, as well as their lifestyle. Also the architecture of the big cities in Asia is so different from the French architecture. I wanted to experience the ferry and the buildings of Hong Kong, the temples and the food in Bangkok, the manga, the food and the fashion of Japan. I was dying to step into China to see with my own eyes what was shown on TV in France…

And then I moved to Japan after several business trips during a few years, I met Japanese women and I realized that I had a gift , that somehow I could inspire and motivate them and that I could transform their life…. it has been 13 years of my life… and thousands of young women met during these years. An amazing experience, a treasure indeed.

You left Japan and you now enjoy the world,,,,, what I found in Japan are funny people, sweet people, a rich culture and many many dear friends.
XOXO

ps: Kodinza, de verdad me encantaría mandarte mis DVDs para tu cumpleaños… pero no controlo la venta, los derechos son de la empresa que les produzco… intentare conseguirte unos porque siempre estas visitando mi blog y lo mereces!
besos, Ines

EXERCISE DURING THE HOLIDAYS !

December.28,2010
  • English
  • 日本語

Go for Gluteus Maximus

If you dream of having a round, sexy bum, and if bigger is better, you’ll want to really challenge the gluteal muscles. Dial up the resistance on a stationary bike or other cardio machine. During strength training, go for more weight, more repetitions, and shorter rest periods between exercises. A high-quality diet is also important in building muscle mass.

Behind It All: The Gluteal Muscles

The shape of the buttocks is defined by muscles known as the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus (hidden under other muscles), as well as the overlying fat. Walking, running, and climbing all work the glutes. Strength training that targets these muscles can help develop a tighter, more rounded look. Adding a few butt-busting moves to your routine may be enough to see a difference.

My Favorite: Variation: Ball Squat

If you’re just starting out, a stability ball can help with balance while you master the form. For each exercise on our list, aim for three sets of 15 repetitions. That’s a good start for beginners, says master trainer Dori Ricci, NASM, CPT. Try to do each exercise three times a week.

Form: Keep the ball between your low back and a wall. Slowly perform the classic squat. Walk your feet out in front so the knees stay behind your toes.

Forward Lunge

This butt builder also tones the thighs and calves, and it’s a pretty good calorie burner, too.

Form: Feet parallel, hip-distance apart, take one giant step forward. Lower your body slowly, bending both knees, and return to standing. Repeat on the other side. Bend your knees no farther than 90 degrees, front knee stacked directly over your front ankle. Do not rest your back knee on the ground.

Variation: Backward Lunge

When you step backward into a lunge, it works the glutes a little more intensely and adds variety to your workout. Lunges also help promote hip flexibility and proper alignment, which can suffer when people spend long hours sitting at a desk.

Form: Use the same posture as in a forward lunge, but step backward to position the lower leg. Remember not to let the front knee push out in front of your toes.

On the Ball: Hip Lift

This small movement isolates and works the gluteus maximus, the largest muscle in the body. Be careful not to use the back muscles; the glutes should do the work.

Form: Bend the knees 90 degrees, feet together. Squeeze the glutes and slowly move the thighs up off the ball. A small, controlled, 2-inch movement is the goal.

Floor Work: Bridge

This classic is a surprisingly good workout for the glutes, as well as the hamstrings and hips.

Form: Begin on your back with your knees bent, feet hip-width apart. Slowly peel your spine off the floor from the tailbone, one vertebra at a time, tightening the glutes and hamstrings. Pause when you create a diagonal line from shoulders to knees. Lower slowly, one vertebra at a time.

Floor Work: Dirty Dog

This butt-building move gained fame in the exercise videos of the 1970s as the “fire hydrant.” It targets two of the muscles groups in the buttocks.

Form: Keep your knees hip-width apart and your hands directly under your shoulders, elbows straight. Gently stiffen the abs and keep your back in a neutral position with no sagging or arching. Slowly draw one knee up. Rotate the hip to bring the leg toward the torso, then away.

Floor Work: Running Plank

In addition to challenging the gluteal muscles, running plank works the shoulders, hips, and core muscles. Do it quickly to burn calories while building muscle.

Form: Engage the abdominal muscles to protect the lower back. Spread your fingers wide to protect the wrists.

Dress Your Assets Down

Complement your workout with the right clothing style. Boot-cut and flared jeans balance out the hips and rear for a slimming effect. Long pant legs create the illusion of longer legs and a smaller booty. And back pockets can create amazing illusions. Just beware of super-long back pockets that can make your behind look flat or saggy, instead of showing off the great contours you earned at the gym.

How to Get Flat Abs

Like the quest for the Holy Grail, many people are on a mission to improve their abs. What does it take to get there? These 9 simple exercises and lifestyle tips can start you in the right direction.

You can exercise anytime, not necessary when at the gym. It can be in your everyday life — while taking a walk, standing in line at the grocery store, or socializing at a cocktail party — you can engage your abs by standing straight and exhaling to draw the navel to the spine.

No. 1: Improve Your Posture

Slouch and your stomach pooches. So straighten up, and you’ve done your abs a favor without breaking a sweat! For better posture while standing, align your ears over your shoulders, shoulders over hips, hips over knees, and knees over ankles. Keep the fronts of the shoulders open like a shirt on a hanger, instead of a shirt on a peg. Draw your navel to your spine and keep your weight even on the balls of your feet and your heels.

No. 2: Think Whole-Body Exercise

Don’t get so into your abs that you overlook your other muscles. Your core muscles also include your glutes and back muscles, for instance. Pilates is one way to work all of the core muscles, plus the arms and legs, for a whole–body workout that does strengthens the abs — and more.

No. 3: Try the Canoe Twist

Stand upright, feet apart. Interlace your fingers to create a solid grip. Exhale, and sweep the interlocked hands, arms, shoulders, and chest to the left, as if “rowing a canoe.” Simultaneously lift the left knee up and to the right. Inhale and return to the starting position. Exhale and perform the movement to the right. Alternate for 20 repetitions.

No. 4: Do the Cat Kick

Stand with feet together, arms extended like airplane wings. Exhale, and lift the right leg forward and up. At the same time, sweep the arms forward at shoulder level and round your spine, like a cat. The navel should feel as though it’s pressing toward the spine. Inhale, and open back up and return to the starting position. Repeat with the left leg, alternating for 20 repetitions.

No. 5: Practice the Pilates Zip Up

Stand upright with heels together, toes slightly turned out. Bring your arms up, hands joined underneath the chin. Exhale, press your arms down, keeping hands and arms very close to the body. Simultaneously, lift your heels off the ground onto your tiptoes. Hold for two seconds at the “top,” inhale and return to the starting position. The abs go “in and up” and the arms go down. Perform 20 repetitions.

No. 6: Examine Your Diet

You can do ab exercises until the cows come home, but if you’ve got extra belly fat, your strong abs won’t show. To budge the belly fat, you have to look at what you eat and how active you are. In other words, eat less and move more, and spend your calorie budget wisely.

No. 7: Props Are Optional

Stability and Bosu balls, straps and bands, and gym memberships can be wonderful, but they aren’t necessary for stronger abs. Even in your everyday life — while taking a walk, standing in line at the grocery store, or socializing at a cocktail party — you can engage your abs by standing straight and exhaling to draw the navel to the spine.

No. 8: Set Realistic Goals

Your genes may play a role in your body’s shape, but don’t make that an excuse to give up and head for the cookie jar. Your goals should be realistic and focused on your body, not on some idealized image. Beyonce’s abs may motivate you, but you shouldn’t expect to mimic them.

No. 9: Take Things Slow

There are no fast fixes. Even the promised quick fixes end up being temporary. Plan on slow and steady progression, and prepare for setbacks and even frustration. Rewards come with time and consistency.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

The next morning after the event at the Hotel Metropolitan in Ikebukiro, I had a lot of packing to do for our ski holiday in Aspen, a treasure ski resort loccated in the mountains of Colorado in America.

After flying from Tokyo to Los Angeles, then to Aspen, we finally arrived on Saturday in beautiful Aspen staying for 2 weeks, with our friends:  The McTamaney and The Mitchell families. They both have spectacular homes and kindly invited us to stay with them. The sking in Aspen is fantastic, and the town is known as the winter nest for the Rich & Famous. Actually,  I counted 20 private jets parked at the airport. This gives you a hint of who comes here.

Star Studded Holiday in Aspen

Looks like Aspen, Colorado is the place to be this holiday season, as several different stars are spotted in the popular ski town.

We went with Andrea grocery shopping in Aspen cute village,

we spotted some celebrities,,,,,Goldie Hawn

Also finishing up on some holiday shopping was Lori Loughlin and her daughters.
But those weren’t the only stars who headed to the snow, Zoe Saldana and Keith Britton were seen strolling through the streets of Aspen hand in hand.

Paris Hilton’s ex, Doug Reinhardt was also spotted walking around town, but busy with phone calls.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon gear up for Christmas in Aspen, Colorado.

My favorite Kate Hudson is wearing a great native bracelet, while having a morning coffee.

Beautiful and stylish – supermodel: ELLE

Mother & Daughter: Goldie & Kate

My favorite photo by Andrea McTamaney…. the shadow skiersa

Dancing queen Carina with her instructor on early morning.

In CHINA @ NSR MODELS headquarters in BEIJING

December.15,2010

Are you ready?  I am taking you, FIRST, on a private visit to the CHINA CLUB in Beijing.

Together with Jim Chang at the China Club in Beijing where we had an exclusive dinner with the top executive people of NSR (New Silk Road Models). Everything was so luxurious, beautifully decorated and the service meticulous!

This was the Prince bedroom….. Jim’s family actually owns the mega group called EVERGREEN and EVA AIR, the official airline of Taiwan. He is indeed a Prince himself, that’s for sure! And more importantly he is so much fun to travel and work with.

OMG Prince Chang is home!!!!!!

With 10,000 square meters of land, there are four main buildings and several courtyards, all surrounded by a series of interconnected Qing Dynasty single-storey pavilions with a more recently constructed three-storey pavilion near the entrance.

The premises once operated as the Beijing Sichuan Restaurant for thirty-seven years. The site is a historical landmark, meaning that no architectural alterations can be made to the original structure.

There are several different private dining rooms and we dined inside the biggest room, featured in the picture below. The food was really spicy, from the Sichuan region… I think they wanted me to be quiet so they spiced me up until my mouth fell totally asleep!

From left: Jo, Jim, Calvin & Spencer

The Club is spectacular….

The Club also offers (to its exclusive members), some bedroom in-suites.  Next time I will definitely stay here.  NSR thought that I would rather prefer a foreign style hotel and I stayed at the Fairmont Hotel, with Asami, and of course the Fairmont was great as always.

With Asami, together with Miss China 2010, in her limousine, going to dinner at the China Club.

During the day, on Monday, I did an interview with Beijing Fashion magazine, the “who’s who in Fashion”, in China.

Why Beijing this time?

I was asked to provide training to the new faces of NSR MODELS. On December 5th in Sanya, China, NSR MODELS (New Silk Road) hosted a major event with thousands of models competing in the NSR MODELS search of the year. It happens each year in Sanya and it is a HUGE event that lasts 3 days. I was invited to be a judge, but could not go as I had a lecture to give at the RISSHO University on the 4th.

Also, I came to China to meet with the 20 girls that were selected and who are now represented by NSR MODELS. Each came to meet with me, with their agent and booker. It reminded me of when I used to work with IMG Models New York and I realized how much I love being in fashion versus what I have been doing for the past 13 years…. Beauty contests and beauty queens will never entirely be “my thing” (…) But it was fun for the past years. And the Miss Universe Organisation was always very kind to let me bring high-fashion into their event, by letting me present Miss Japan with the latest designer’s collection looks. Also to spice up a bit the National Costume competition… and it has been a blast of course.

What is the connection between Miss Universe and NSR?

NSR was asked to send a delegate last year to Miss Universe in Las Vegas and they sent one. She is a beautiful girl but she screams: “MODEL” when you meet her, she will never be a beauty queen… she does not fit the category…. she did not place inside the top 15, no wonder, it is crystal clear to me why! She is only 19 years old but she comes from a good family and she is definitely outgoing and sophisticated for a young girl like her.

She asked me what I think about the whole experience, as she feels confused about what should be her next move…. I told her to move on. I was very honest with her and told her point blank that she did not look like a beauty queen, but like a Vogue magazine model. She was happy with my comment and I could feel that she was starting to find again her own identity.

Girls most of the time lose themselves after they go to Miss Universe and then nothing happens back home afterward because they were stars for 3 weeks, then they miss the attention and the adrenaline that they felt at the time they competed.

After the whole thing is over, they feel somehow a bit depressed, because they expected many more doors to be opened after their return. But the truth is that in our world today only a very few percentage of the worldwide population is interested and appreciate the status of a Miss Winner. Perhaps interest is high in developing countries, but in the developed countries, people care about movies, television, music and modeling stars.

I picked these 2 girls, they are just making their debut. I chose the left one  for editorial and runway work, The girl on the right,  for lingerie and luxury car campaign. Actually, NSR represents the only Asian model ever working as a Victoria Secret Model. Actually you should see these girls dressedup and made-up on the runway, WOW!

I love the TWINS! Yin & Yan. I taught them how to walk together as one. They are amazing when they move, they look like dolls, they are fierce together. They can move as a mirrored one. I told them to never separate when they work, being together is their force.

You see them looking serious because I am talking to them (with a translator the all time of course), but if not, they all laugh, jump around and have a big personality in general which I love. It takes more time for Japanese girls to come out and show who they really are. Also, it is nice and refreshing, but of course they do not have special characteristics that Japanese girls have. From one country to another, women can be totally different, that’s what impassions me.

Below, we took a picture with Asami in front of the MISS UNIVERSE JAPAN 2010 Press Conference board. Funny! In my world, everything seems to be connected always…. Actually, NSR is not sending a girl to Miss Universe next year. And, I will be in charge of  THE FACE OF ASIA (with only delegates from Asia) starting from July 2011.

Here looking at composite cards on the wall of the agency. [Btw, I wear  a Temperley dress, Marni necklace, Celine high-knee-leather boots, D&G gold earrings and my favorite Gucci bag].

Waiting with Miss China, for the elevator at NSR MODELS headquarters, it was minus 7 degrees in Beijing! We almost froze, SERIOUSLY!

She had an eye infection, also that is why she wears sunglasses. Also wearing my Jimmy Choo shades, to make her feel good.

Oh no! It was dark inside the car and I put concealer on my lips instead of lip gloss…. arrrrrrr!

I just realised that today is exactly one month since I did my nail gels at MARS THE SALON, also I just booked for 5 pm today. Cannot believe how good they are at MARS…. one month and my nails are perfect still!

Tks Debbie :)

Morning at the Fairmont Beijing Hotel reading the newspaper….

Reading a very sad story of a 14 years old Chinese boy that was seriously ill and his parents have no money to take him to intensive care, and are telling their story. A sword into my heart….

Taking you for a tour of the Beijing’s 798 Art District

A decade ago, setting up radical art studios in the workshops of a largely abandoned military electronics complex on the fringe of Beijing was considered to be intriguing and provocative. Today, Factory 798 is a warren of contemporary art galleries, studios and cafes, luring artists and visitors, students and collectors from across China and overseas.

I am happy because I blew Asami’s mind!  She had no idea something like it could exist in China! And she almost froze… again it was way below zero degrees!  I was so confortable with my warm Loewe coat.

Answering comments. (To Masako)

Dear Masako,

Thank you for your kind letter.

The best and easiest way to handle excess stress in your life is to learn to meditate. A study done by the Transcendental Meditation organization showed that people who meditated regularly (one to two times every day) for ten years were physically years younger than other people their same chronological age.

The meditation technique that follows is extremely successful with everyone that takes the time to master it. This is a short, fifteen minute meditative break that you can easily incorporate into even the busiest of days.

This simple procedure creates a deep state of relaxation in your mind and body. As your breathing quiets, your mind also quiets, but remains awake. If you fall asleep while doing this activity, you are not getting adequate sleep at night. Change your schedule until you can remain awake and alert while practicing this technique.

Making an audio tape of these instructions in your own voice, and using it during your first several practices, very quickly improves your success. Using some quiet music in the background while making your tape is another very helpful addition. The numbers in parentheses below are about how long to pause between instructions on your tape.

Close your eyes. (30 seconds)
Gently, allow your awareness to be on your breathing. Just observe your breath as you breathe in and out. (30 seconds)

Innocently be aware of your breathing. Do not try to alter it in any conscious way. (1 minute)

As you observe your breath, you may notice that it changes. It may speed up or slow down. It may get deeper or more shallow. It may seem to stop for a time. Whatever happens with your breathing, just observe it, without anticipating or resisting any changes. (1 minute)

At times, your attention may drift away from your breath and go to a thought in your mind, some sensation in your body, or a sound. Whenever you notice that you are not observing your breath, gently bring your attention back to your breathing. (1 minute)

Give up any expectations you may have. When you notice that you are focusing on some expectation, treat this as you would any other thought and gently bring your awareness back to your breath. (silence for at least 10 more minutes)
Take about 1 minute to slowly open your eyes.

Practice this technique, SITTING, for at least 15 minutes, twice a day, in the morning and in the late afternoon. You may also do this for a few minutes during the day, if you are feeling upset, tense or agitated. It will help you to relax and regain control.

If you can, sign up for a yoga class.

And….. you should see the movie with Eat, Pray & Love with Julia Roberts & Jose Bardem. It is phenomenal, amusing and touching at the same time. It is great option for simple, but nice time.

Last year, I invited a model debutant and her family to my home, after being asked by a friend of mine. She wanted me to give her some advises about modeling and being successful. I gave her a few tips and recommended her to contact past finalist in 2009 Naomi Obata, and to take several classes with her. Naomi opened her own studio. You should check her out….

I love when people contact me again telling me that I made a difference in their life. This is what life is all about…. definitely for me it is!

A message from Rick (Model Judy Mair’s Father)

Hi Ines,

I just wanted to thank you again for welcoming my daughter Judy, my wife and
me last year. Your advice and also the introduction to ex-finalist Naomi Obata to teach walking classes to Judy, have been very helpful for Tamar’s career, which has been going very well.

Judy did lots of kimono work over the summer, most of it in Kyoto. She was in the Keita Maruyama show during the most recent Japan Fashion Week:

About a week ago she was in the Agnes B French Pop Night Xmas Party.

Judy is working both days this weekend.

We wish you, Ken, and the boys all the best.

Happy Holidays!
