The designer was photographed by Jeff Burton and in his interview he shared five lessons on how to be a modern gentleman.Here they are!And I added my personal comments in brackets

1. You should put on the best version of yourself when you go out in the world because that is a show of respect to the other people around you. (SO TRUE!)

2. A gentleman today has to work. People who do not work are so boring and are usually bored. You have to be passionate, you have to be engaged and you have to be contributing to the world. (BRAVO!)

3. Manners are very important and actually knowing when things are appropriate. I always open doors for women, I carry their coat, I make sure that they’re walking on the inside of the street. Stand up when people arrive at and leave the dinner table. (CRUCIAL!)

4. Don’t be pretentious or racist or sexist or judge people by their background. (ABSOLUTELY!)

5. A man should never wear shorts in the city. Flip-flops and shorts in the city are never appropriate. Shorts should only be worn on the tennis court or on the beach. (HUM…TRUE!)

An email from Chiaki, one the 24 students in “Ines Secret” DVDs, she is an emergency nurse and went to the disaster zone right after the disaster.

Here is what she wrote to me:

Hello Dearest Ines,

I was so happy to have been able to see you the other day at your press conference, it has been a long time since we finished the filming. Your fashion when you saw me made me nervous))… I think you went easy on me though.

I have also had the chance to speak to the other monitors. I realized that many people had similar feelings to me and it made me feel so thankful that I was chosen to participate in the making of the film.  I am so thankful to you for giving me the chance.

I was in areas affected by the earthquake until the day before yesterday.
As I told you when we met, I am working as an emergency medical worker, so I went to go help out.

It was so much worse than I expected.  The media only shows what and when they can show to everyone.  The people they show are only the ones who can appear on TV.  

I also met a woman who is your fan.  She bought “Ines Secret” but it was washed away in the Tsunami.  I wanted to give her a new set of “Ines Secret”as I have too sets myself, but she said she wanted to start working again and buy it herself.  I didn’t mean to do anything to look down on her or show pity, but I think I had, and I felt embarrassed.  

Difficult times for Japan still continue, but I want to do my best in order to help out.  
If you plan on doing anything for this cause, please let me know.  I would like to be involved.

親愛なるイネス

先日は久しぶりにお会いできて嬉しかったです。
久しぶりのファッションチェックでは緊張しましたが、きっと採点は甘かったのではないでしょうか？
私たちの過ごした8週間のDVDを見たモニターの方とお話する機会もありました。
同じような気持ちを持っている方が多いことを知り、私はあの時に選んでもらえて本当に良かったと思いました。
その機会を与えてくれたイネスに感謝します。

私は一昨日まで被災地に行きました。
最後の収録の時に話した通り、私は今も救急看護師として働いています。そして、被災地に応援に行きました。
現地は想像以上でした。 誰にでも見せられる部分しかメディアでは放送されていません。映し出される方もそれができるレベルです。
また、イネスのファンだという女性にも会いました。彼女は「イネスシークレット」も買ったそうですが、それも流されてしまったと言います。私は自分のDVDを譲ろうと思いました。しかし彼女は「復興後に、自分で働いて再び買います」と言いました。
私はさげすんだつもりはありませんでしたが、まるで恵んでやるような態度を取った自分が恥ずかしくなりました。

まだまだ日本が大変な時が続いていますが、私は自分が出来ることを精一杯やろうと思います。
イネスが何らかのアクションを起こす時には、ぜひ私にもお手伝いさせて下さい。

Extract from my answer to Chan, who commented on my blog

Some of my past finalists and winners are actually teaming up together and are now in Sendai volunteering and I am very scared for their health of course, but I am very proud of them.

My big son Ben, came back from Los Angeles 3 days ago, and he is now volunteering as well with some of his friends, for 10 days (his holiday break). I am nervous about the nuclear plants situation of course…. any Mom would….

We all decided not to promote anything that we do, because we do not want any publicity for doing what is right. I hope you understand how we feel.

But behind the scenes, we are busy encouraging, motivating, pushing our friends & contacts, having financial power, to help us by donating money or goods, on our behalf.

Not taking any credit here, I have nothing to do with it, but proud of some of my friends and I wish to hihlight what they did lately and continue to do….

One of my closest friend’s power-family (the Chang Family) sent 30,000 containers to Japan from Taiwan last week filed up with tents, blankets, food, medicine, first aid tools and cooking ware. Also 2 airplanes with nurses, rescue dogs and doctors. They do not want people to know about it as they want no publicity.

But as I write, my husband says that he is reading on the news that the notorious-billionaire Uncle of my dear friend Jim Chang, just donated 12 million dollars. Same family – Both Evergreen and Eva Air.

Another close friend of mine (Japanese), donated 1 million Dollars (about 81 million Yen) to buy first necessity amenities for Sendai people living in shelters.

Another business associate of mine, sent by plane, million liters of mineral water from China. He is co-owner of Oak Lawn, the company who produces my Ines Secret DVDs and also produced Billy Boot Camp ones 2 years ago.

And the list goes on and on.

If you are in need for help and hope and you read my post please be ensure that they are many people trying to help now. And that there are great people right now, doing great things for Japan.

On a cute note,,,,, my 2 little sons tonight at diner donated each 5,000 yen (one month of their allowance). Very sweet in my mother-eyes. We did not ask them for it, they voluntarily did it.
